Many of you have heard about the deaths and other heartbreaking tragedies that have occurred recently at Hialeah strip mall cosmetic clinics. No members of The Miami Society of Plastic Surgeons were involved in these incidents—yet, our hearts go out to the many victims and their families.
The Miami Society of Plastic Surgeons is the largest group of board certified plastic surgeons in Florida. Our members are blessed to be able to help patients make a positive change in their lives through the safe and ethical practice of plastic surgery. We are also part of the greater Miami community. As such, we wish to share a few tips to help our fellow Miamians find a surgeon they can trust.

If it sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is. You have heard the pitch: “18 areas of liposuction for $2,000.” If you are wondering how this can be possible, the answer is quite simple: It is not.
Before agreeing to anything, make sure you know exactly what you are getting into. Who is actually doing the procedure, and where will it be done? Ask how you will be kept comfortable during the procedure. (Long procedures performed with only local anesthesia can be dangerous.) Where will the procedure be done?
You may find some astounding videos on the Internet—but don’t believe everything you see online. Verify everything. Then, once you have found a board certified plastic surgeon you trust, take the time to verify the doctor’s credentials. You and your loved ones deserve nothing less.

My cosmetic surgeon said he is board certified in internal medicine. Is that ok?
No, it is not. Keep it simple: Internal medical should be treated by internal medicine doctors.
Plastic surgery should be done by surgeons board certified by the American board of Plastic Surgery.
Members of The Miami Society of Plastic Surgeons work hard to get and maintain this credential. Their extensive and reliable training ensures patients are kept safe, while their doctors achieve natural and realistic results. You and your family deserve nothing less.

This sounds like a lot of research. Is there a simple place I can go to find a plastic surgeon?
Yes. The Miami Society of Plastic Surgeons has done all the hard work for you. Every member of The Society is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Each of our doctors has completed at least 5 years of surgical training. Our members only operate in safe and accredited medical facilities and abide by a strict code of ethics. They are committed to creating safe, natural and realistic results, and will care for you as a family member, a close friend or neighbor because we are part of the Miami community too.
